The Running Game Technique

The aim of the Running Game strategy is to bring all your checkers into your home board and bear them off as quickly as you could. This technique concentrates on the speed of shifting your checkers with little or no time spent to hit or barricade your competitor’s pieces. The best time to use this technique is when you think you can shift your own chips quicker than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the game board; 2) all your pieces have past your opponent’s checkers; or 3) your opponent does not use the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary goal of the blocking strategy, by the name, is to stop your competitor’s checkers, temporarily, while not fretting about shifting your pieces rapidly. As soon as you have established the blockade for your opponent’s movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other checkers quickly off the board. You should also have an apparent plan when to extract and move the pieces that you used for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when the opposition utilizes the same blocking tactic.
