The Essential Facts of Backgammon Tactics – Part 2

[ English ]

As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and good luck. The aim is to move your chips carefully around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player checkers moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move her chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely stop any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he/she at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point eleven in your board. As soon as you’ve successfully constructed the prime to prevent the movement of the competitor, your opponent does not even get to roll the dice, and you shift your chips and roll the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions with hope to better your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy uses seperate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often used when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this plan, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
