The aim of a Backgammon match is to move your pieces around the Backgammon board and get them from the game board faster than your opponent who works just as hard to do the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a game in Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and fortune. How far you can move your pieces is up to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and how you shift your chips are determined by your overall playing techniques. Players use different techniques in the different parts of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Tactic
The aim of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your chips into your inner board and pull them off as quickly as you can. This technique focuses on the speed of advancing your pieces with little or no efforts to hit or stop your opponent’s checkers. The best scenario to employ this plan is when you believe you might be able to shift your own chips a lot faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have less chips on the board; 2) all your chips have moved beyond your competitor’s checkers; or 3) your opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking strategy.
The Blocking Game Tactic
The main goal of the blocking tactic, by the name, is to stop your opponent’s checkers, temporarily, while not fretting about shifting your chips quickly. After you’ve established the blockage for your competitor’s movement with a few checkers, you can shift your other chips rapidly off the board. You should also have a clear strategy when to extract and move the pieces that you used for blocking. The game gets interesting when your opponent uses the same blocking technique.
