The aim of a Backgammon game is to shift your checkers around the game board and get them from the board faster than your competitor who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a game of Backgammon requires both strategy and luck. How far you can shift your checkers is up to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and the way you shift your checkers are determined by your overall playing strategies. Players use different strategies in the different parts of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Tactic
The goal of the Running Game plan is to lure all your pieces into your inside board and bear them off as fast as you could. This technique focuses on the pace of moving your chips with absolutely no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent’s pieces. The ideal scenario to employ this strategy is when you believe you can shift your own checkers quicker than your opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the game board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your opponent’s pieces; or 3) the opponent does not use the hitting or blocking strategy.
The Blocking Game Plan
The main goal of the blocking strategy, by its name, is to stop your opponent’s pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your chips rapidly. Once you’ve created the barrier for your opponent’s movement with a couple of pieces, you can shift your other checkers swiftly from the board. The player will need to also have a good plan when to back off and shift the checkers that you utilized for blocking. The game gets intriguing when your opposition uses the same blocking technique.
