Players use different strategies in the differing parts of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Plan
The aim of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your checkers into your home board and get them off as fast as you could. This plan focuses on the speed of advancing your checkers with little or no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent’s pieces. The best time to employ this technique is when you think you can move your own pieces quicker than your opposing player does: when 1) you have less pieces on the game board; 2) all your chips have past your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.
The Blocking Game Strategy
The primary aim of the blocking strategy, by its title, is to stop the opponent’s checkers, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your pieces rapidly. After you have created the blockade for the opponent’s movement with a few checkers, you can move your other chips rapidly off the board. You will need to also have a good strategy when to extract and move the checkers that you utilized for the blockade. The game becomes intriguing when your opponent utilizes the same blocking technique.
