The goal of a Backgammon game is to shift your pieces around the Backgammon board and bear them off the game board quicker than your opponent who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a game in Backgammon requires both strategy and luck. How far you will be able to shift your pieces is left to the numbers from rolling the dice, and just how you move your pieces are determined by your overall playing techniques. Players use differing techniques in the different stages of a match based on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Technique
The aim of the Running Game tactic is to lure all your chips into your home board and get them off as fast as you could. This strategy concentrates on the pace of moving your checkers with no time spent to hit or stop your opponent’s checkers. The best time to use this tactic is when you believe you might be able to shift your own chips quicker than your opposition does: when 1) you have less checkers on the board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your competitor’s checkers; or 3) the opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking tactic.
The Blocking Game Strategy
The primary goal of the blocking tactic, by the name, is to block the competitor’s pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your chips quickly. After you’ve created the blockade for your opponent’s movement with a few chips, you can shift your other pieces rapidly off the board. The player will need to also have a clear plan when to withdraw and move the checkers that you employed for the blockade. The game becomes intriguing when your competitor utilizes the same blocking tactic.
