The Essential Basics of Backgammon Game Plans – Part 1

[ English ]

The objective of a Backgammon game is to shift your pieces around the game board and bear those pieces off the game board faster than your competitor who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a match in Backgammon requires both tactics and fortune. How far you can move your chips is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and how you move your chips are decided on by your overall playing plans. Players use different strategies in the different parts of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Tactic

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to bring all your checkers into your home board and pull them off as fast as you could. This tactic concentrates on the pace of moving your pieces with absolutely no efforts to hit or stop your competitor’s chips. The best scenario to employ this technique is when you think you can move your own checkers faster than the opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your competitor’s chips; or 3) the opposing player does not employ the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary goal of the blocking technique, by its name, is to stop your competitor’s pieces, temporarily, not worrying about moving your checkers quickly. Once you have established the blockage for the competitor’s movement with a couple of pieces, you can move your other chips swiftly from the game board. You really should also have a good plan when to withdraw and move the checkers that you utilized for the blockade. The game gets intriguing when the opponent uses the same blocking technique.
